Countdown Supermarkets

A small supermarket but usually has what I need. Can be difficult to get some things but meat and produce is always fresh and well presented. Nice and handy location.

This supermarket has bad attitude amongst many of it's staff as they become familiar with regular customers. Staff exhibit racism as they make smart personal comments, just so we can hear them but not able to do anything about them. They often stand in aisles in pairs or so and make comments as they obviously are gossiping. When we occasionally use the old-style checkouts too often the checkout person will talk to others around us whilst she is processing our order, as though we do not exist.

Thankfully there are still several long-term staff on occasionally who are consistently pleasant plus the occasional schoolboy/girl junior who take their job seriously.

Prices are erratic and can increase dramatically overnight, even though it is the same stock.

It's been revamped recently which has made a big difference to the way the place looks. As far as Countdown shops go, this one is pretty good. Given a choice of supermarkets in Browns Bay, I'd prefer this one over the alternative.

New Store is nice, but layout a bit confusing. Don't like the new bag systems at end of checkout's not practical. Most staff are friendly and store is tidy. Need to keep an eye on pricing though as sometimes find things are different to what is dipalyed.
