Chinoiserie

Yum! Well its not posh but it doesn't have to be. Retro old school setting, dragon overhead, low light, great honest food with flare and a very nice cocktail to follow. I had the calamari bao OMG

A cute local eatery to meet with friends or go on date, really enjoy the bao buns and spicy peanuts. Reasonably priced too.

The term chinoiserie refers to European interpretation and imitation of Chinese and East Asian artistic traditions, so the restaurant is completely upfront in that respect. At Chinoiserie, once you’ve navigated the challenge of a table, you can enjoy well presented, mostly flavourful dishes that are real crowd pleasers. Christina and Kristina joined me for our catch up dinner and there’s some solid eating but there’s also some hiccups and dishes that need to transition from mimicry to masterful. Menu is narrow. No doubt it’s a fantastic addition to Mt Albert and I do hope to see it grow from here.

They have the most delicious Bao buns, service was friendly and quick. me and mum paid $30 each but has twice as much food as we needed, well worth what we paid and then some. The deep fried tofu and fish bites were super tasty as well. 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic food with great atmosphere. It's a shame there are long queues but worth waiting for. Chicken bao is delicious.
