Chinoiserie

We dined in at Chinoiserie in Mt Albert and it was a tad it of a mission to find parking amongst residential street however the effort proved rewarding. The restaurant is dim lit with oriental embellishments and kitschy retro wooden seats reminiscent of Sunday schools and benches and tables.

Staff was very friendly and engaging and whilst it was very busy it was a perfect opportunity to relax and incessantly chatter.

We ordered the squid and crunchy chicken milk bao and shared garlic fish bites with salty coconut cream dipping sau e and popcorn chicken with spicy mayo. The food was exceptional, flavoursome, textural and most satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the fish bites.

Almost we were full we shared the warmed black rice pudding with toasted coconut and the balance of creamy, salty with sweet was divine! Highly recommended!

Come here all the time and has never let me down! Food is quick, cheap, good portions and amazing service!
The portions are quite big so what I usually get for two people are two Bao’s and something to share and that’s a good amount. If I’m feeling extra hungry then I’ll get another dish to share.
Recommend the Gong Gong Noodle, Chicken Bao and Pork Bao.

Garlic fish bites are awesome ! Crisp & tasty in sweet chillie assam flavour - just yum! Kaarage Chicken Bao is very good too. The menu doesn’t have a wide variety of dishes though. 4 varieties of Guo Bao (Chinese Buns) are the Main dishes on the Menu with several side dishes available.

everything is tasty - love the fish buns and the squid rings. Friendly and quick service. Good selection of beer. Excellent decor.

Pork guo bao are delish, and the chicken popcorn are addictive. The noodles were a bit plain (wish we'd ordered the slaw - it went to the table beside us and looked so good!) but everyone was really happy with their different steamed buns. Will be going back for sure.
