      General Info

      Butterfly Creek are proud to host NZ's only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world's apex predators. Complimenting these reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house, cotton-top tamarins and other reptiles such as the bearded dragon and alligators. We also host NZ's giant wetapunga - one of the world's largest insects and an aquaria and bugs exhibit including tarantulas. Beside the courtyard and playground, take a wee train ride around the new Dinosaur Kingdom that opened in Jan 2014 - see the dinosaurs come to life! Last but not least is Buttermilk farm where you can get up close and personal with the cute and cuddly animals. Butterfly Creek hosts fantastic all-inclusive children's parties and we run a behind the scenes Junior Keeper programme for those animal lovers. Animal encounters occur daily and we are open every day except Xmas & Boxing day and we are 50% undercover so don't let the rain put you off! We are situated 2 minutes from the Airport and provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport.

      Was great to see the kids reactions to the crocodiles. Their faces just lit up with amazement. The park was great to wander around and had a lot of creepy crawlies to peer at. Definitely worth a look if you are in Auckland with some time up your sleeve.

      Such an awesome place. I have been a few times, and I loved seeing all the crocodiles, butterflies and farm animals, etc. It is such a great place for kids, with all the exhibits and rides that they can go on.

      An enjoyable family venue, a reasonable amount to see with the butterflies, crocodiles, farm animals and animated dinosaurs - as well as the various feedings and touching sessions throughout the day.

      A reasonably high entry cost though which can be a bit prohibitive.

      Nice cafe with good range of food but the coffee is pretty average
