General Info
Butterfly Creek are proud to host NZ's only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world's apex predators. Complimenting these reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house, cotton-top tamarins and other reptiles such as the bearded dragon and alligators. We also host NZ's giant wetapunga - one of the world's largest insects and an aquaria and bugs exhibit including tarantulas. Beside the courtyard and playground, take a wee train ride around the new Dinosaur Kingdom that opened in Jan 2014 - see the dinosaurs come to life! Last but not least is Buttermilk farm where you can get up close and personal with the cute and cuddly animals. Butterfly Creek hosts fantastic all-inclusive children's parties and we run a behind the scenes Junior Keeper programme for those animal lovers. Animal encounters occur daily and we are open every day except Xmas & Boxing day and we are 50% undercover so don't let the rain put you off! We are situated 2 minutes from the Airport and provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Went here for the day Sat , We felt it was a bit overall priced for what was there but the kids did love it. The Otter interaction was meant to be at 11 am and we sat for ages and nothing came, was a bit dissapointed about that

Great for a day out with kids. Lots of animals, interactions with animals is so much fun with so much information.

This was a nice day out but definitely more for smaller kids but it was still fun. The highlight of our day wss definitely the butterfly enclosure. The cafe is nice with a nice variety of food options.

Only rating a 4 star because of the ridiculous entry prices!!! I dont know how big families are expected to be able to afford a visit here because of that reason. I was lucky enough to be given vouchers from a family friend, and was then able to take my family for 7 to butterfly creek. MY entire family enjoyed it, and really enjoyed the farm area and feeding the kids. The butterfly house was a hit for my teenagers who enjoyed taking selfies and giggling the entire way through, while my poor little ones screamed and cried everytime a butterfly landed on them. The entire place is informative and well laid out. The feeding shows for the crocodiles is cool. All in all, its a really nice place but I wouldnt be rushing to pay for a visit if I had to pay full price.
