Barrel Inn

It had been many many years since we visited The Barrel Inn. We had heard reviews about how tired the place looked, and while this is true (same decor for 20+ years) the food, drinks & service were great on the night we visited. Friends had also told us how great it was - not sure if there has been a change of owner? Certainly a vast improvement!
Service wise everyone was incredibly friendly & welcoming with prompt delivery of food & good banter.
The food was really a stand out though which you wouldn’t necessarily expect!
We ordered the Sunday roast which at $12.00 there wasn’t huge expectations - well it was delicious! Pork shoulder (tender & perfectly cooked) crispy potatoes, and all the trimmings. There was also a larger size which a friend chose as he was hungry - it was huge.
1/2 pint at $5.90 is pretty reasonable too
So a good surprise & will definitely be back.

I chose the "Meat platter" special. This came with venison rump, lamb back strap, chorizo and ribs, as well as pickles, sauce and fries. The quality of the meat was excellent and cooked exactly as I had requested. Presentation was excellent. Overall good experience.

Great local pub with friendly and inviting staff. Food is great pub grub. Always have the rugby games live and always a friendly face to sit and chat to. It could do with a little overhaul but then unless you are going to go to somewhere new they all do!

A decent pub, but the premises is starting to get a bit ratty looking. The food is average pub fare, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Food is good value here, the place needs a do up though, looking a bit worn down
