Cinema Whangamata

Take a blanket if you go in winter! its freezing in there! Nice old building, although it could do with some sprucing up. We went to a kids movie which was $10 each so cheaper than big city cinemas. Just dont expect anything too flash!

Not the most comfy cinema and some chairs are missing arm rests. It's a lovely old building though and this adds to the character. Always plays the most recent movies when it's holiday season. If you want to visit out of season, check the listings on the board or leaflet outside as they are not open that often and only show one film at a time. Staff are always friendly and always seats available.

A small cinema with one screen bit the only on in town. They open quite a lot over the summer months but don't expect them to be open in winter as they usually only have 2 showings a week! They do show up to date movies though & cater for kids as well as adults. Limited snack options but they don't seem to be fussy if you take your own. Some seats are missing and they're not the comfiest but a good option if it's raining.

Fantastic theatre with loads of history and character. The staff are very good and know their stuff. Great location highly recommend
