The Green Parrot Cafe

Went there tonight with a couple of work colleagues. Thos is a great institution of Wellington, that I didn't know of, but luckily, I do now. The meals are big, and the quality of the meats are superb. Cool atmosphere, and really friendly, efficient service.

A Wellington institution. As long as you know what to expect with this place it can be enjoyable. White bread and butter is served to start, not my cup of tea but a tradition they haven’t changed. The servings are large, served with green salad and potato salad. Lamb chops, pork chops and schnitzel were ordered at our table and were all tasty.

If you eat here, be prepared to receive the biggest food portions you will ever see in Wellington. Highly recommend you don't eat at all before a helping of great steaks or at least not planning anything for after the meal other than a nap.

Good, old fashioned style meals at reasonable prices. Good service overall too.

This place is a Wellington Icon, and has always been highly regarded as a place to dine. I am a vegetarian, so not really a lot of options for me.... but in general just not a menu to my tasting
