I would agree with a previous review here, quoting that for the style and class of the restaurant, the food but somewhat not up to the standard of what you might expect. I have enjoyed the dinner menu a few times, so decided to bring my family along to Lunch at Portlander for a recent celebration. The lunch menu was quite basic bar food, and unfortunately did not inspire much joy at our table. Classic fish and chips and burgers-style of menu. I wasn't able to finish my chicken burger, because of a strange fishy taste caused by an ingredient I wasn't able to identify. The menu did not appear to be overly vegan/vegetarian friendly, either. Portlander was certainly 'okay', and I'd probably recommend it to people I don't think particularly much of.

We came here for dinner and it was very nice, relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very accommodating and make very good recommendations. We had the steak, and had a perfect wine match on recommendation. The experience was very nice, and would definitely be visiting again

Went here for a team lunch recently. We had 15 people and booked in advance. Our waitress had trouble understanding our orders and wouldn't let the one vegetarian present modify the meal so he ended up not eating and there was trouble establishing whether they had a gluten free frying oil. After that disaster the food that came out was mediocre and everyone's seemed to be variable with the same items cooked differently.

Beef wise this restaurant is a must visit. Every time I've been there has been a great experience. Highly recommended. Even if you eat the risotto.

Portlander is situated inside the Rydges hotel and we had decided to come here for dinner. The service on arrival was friendly and we were seated promptly. We ordered the Chateaubriand for two, which came with bread as starters, 550g of eye fillet to share, steak fries and salad on the side. The bread arrived without entree plates, until another waitress noticed it few minutes later. The eye fillet took awhile to arrive but it was amazing, cooked to perfection, best steak I’ve had in awhile. The steak fries were chunky and crunchy. The salad was boring and bland. For dessert I had the lollycake ice cream, which was super average.
