Comfy generous sized chairs.
Great choice of movies to pick from.
Good for fundraising movie nights too

Definitely not my favourite cinema in Wellington. With so many options this one doesn't stand out. The biggest issue I find while watching is the poor sound quality. Way too quite (especially for block busters) and not enough base. Our sound system at home is better than at the Penthouse. Although the seats are really nice and comfortable. It's also on the pricer side of the Wellington cinemas and definitely not worth it. The cafe/ restaurant is definitely hit and miss. Multiple times I've ordered coffees and had to send them back for being horrible- staff weren't friendly about the request either. The bathrooms are clean and nice though.

We went to watch a film at the Penthouse Cinema 3, a screening that was a part of the international film festival, and it was a visual disaster!
Online booking did not give us any option as far as choosing our seats was concerned. What we got was D-7, 8, 9, and 10. We just rationalised that in any case it has to be somewhere in the middle.
And to our shock, it was the front most row!
It was a huge screen and the distance between the front most row and the huge screen was hardly anything at all!
It was not merely terribly uncomfortable for our necks, it did not given us a visual experience at all despite the movie being a good one.
Shouldn’t there be some kind of engineering for the theatres to comply with some decent norms?
We came out utterly let down! And it stole the pleasure of being a part of the film festival!
Penthouse again, ever? NO!
