Ortega - Fish Shack & Bar

A very quaint restaurant just off the main centre of town. Superb food and great waiting staff catering for young every need.

We went for our last night in Wellington and what a great experience. It's a little dark and the menus are small so bring your reading glasses. It was pretty expensive but probably the best fillet I've ever had and the seafood is very fresh and seasoned well. The service was professional. It was pretty expensive though, prices are online.

I had an absolute fantastic experience here, great food, great atmosphere and environment but what I thought was most outstanding was the staff service, they were so nice and helpful, I even gave them a tip at the end of the night

One of my best dining experiences, ever, so good in fact, we went back to Wellington largely on account of the anticipation of coming here again, and it was worth it, again.
Before even the food, I just love the restaurant itself, feels like you walked into someone's house in a cosy neighbourhood and the owners just happen to be world class chefs, who are also super friendly, and know how to run a successful restaurant business. Basically everything I want to be good at.

Must be one of best in wellington. Great octopus dish after a very nice smoked warehou rillette entree complete with orange pickled radish! Partner had 2 entrees - the yellow fin tuna ceviche followed by a braised creamy prawn dish.
