- What Makes Us Different
- One of the most experienced English language schools in New Zealand. We enroll over 400 students from up to 40 different countries every year. We have three campuses, Wellington, Lower Hutt and Palmerston North. Our Literacy and Numeracy courses are free for permanent residents. International students are welcome to join our academic or general English courses. All our programmes allow students to focus on the English they need, be that academic, general, workplace and/or community. We are also able to help native speakers of English gain basic writing and reading, help students reach the literacy and numeracy requirements to attend university and help existing students develop academic writing skills to enable them to undertake post graduate and PhD study. Our study programmes are registered with and approved by NZQA. Our teaching staff are highly experienced and are well qualified with relevant tertiary qualifications including Masters and PhD¿s. We pride ourselves on the quality of our pastoral care and our flexibility to meet the differing needs of our students, anything from arranging free bikes for international students to organising employment interviews and opportunities for former refugees. In 2016 we were one of the first organisations in New Zealand to offer the New Zealand Certificate in English Language and have become one of New Zealand largest providers of this qualification. Statistics supplied by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and verified by our annual returns, show ETC has a course completion rate of 92% (one of the highest rates in the country) and a qualification completion rate of 81%.
