Pelorus Bridge Cafe & Camping Ground

A little gem roadtripping the south island. If you want guaranteed wood pigeon sightings, this is the spot. Delicious pies and other hearty snacks. Ample parking

I’ll be honest.... I’m a bit of a coffee snob. We spent a Saturday night in Havelock and leaving earlyish (9am!) on Sunday we found all the cafes closed. We decided we’d stop in here for coffee. Expectations weren’t great. The coffee however was!! The baked goods were fresh and delicious too. We’ll definitely be back.

We were glad to find this place on our long journey through the glorious scenic countryside of South Island - the service was friendly and the food and drinks simple but quite good.

Not a place you want to stay during winter. It naturally gets very moist so I would steer clear if heavy rain is predicted. Other than that there is a cafe a short walk away as well as unrestricted access to the Pelorus River. Just make sure kids are well supervised. Reasonable rates to camp as well.
