Westend Rentals

I was extremely disappointed by the services provided by Westend Rentals/ Kaikoura Shuttles and Taxis ltd..

The cost for a 12.2km shuttle trip was $40 one-way, and $80 return. This was extremely high.

The cost to rent a bike for a day was $40. This was the same as R & R Sports, which was located a couple of blocks down. I generally like to support small community businesses, so decided to rent from Westend. This was a huge mistake. The mountain bike they provided me with was rusty, the chain was not oiled, the from disc break was rubbing, and the foam handlebar grips were shredded, leaving only metal to hold on to. The gear indexing was also very off. This made for a miserable day of riding. In contrast, the bikes from R & R were relatively new, decent quality, and well maintained.

My recommendation is to skip Westend Rentals. Walk down the street to R & R sport instead.
