Worst hair dressers in existence, no skill and no integrity. I had my beautiful long hair ruined by this salon, turned orange, burnt to a crips and had to have so much cut off and it's still a mess, then after letting them know I wasn't happy and asked if they could refer me elsewhere to have it fixed, they said only they would fix it, their "fix" was a temporary colour that was darker than my original colour! and only hid the orange for all but 3 washes, and it is now more corse than ever and frizzy, I asked for my brown lightened slightly as it and blunt bangs, I specifically said I didn't want layering as my hair splits too easy layered adding to frizz, and she butcherd it, layered it, even my bangs aren't blunt! Oh and this cost me $350! Which they would not refund so I could get it fixed at another salon. What a joke! I went there to have a rare treat for my self after finishing my degree and have never felt more self concious and upset. Also to highlight their lack of honestly and morals when I asked about their student discount the hairdresser said only on Wednesdays but it wasn't much (I was there on a Tuesday) and I have just found out it is actually 50% off.

In comparison to tionwaana's review, I found Spectra to be absolutely amazing! The customer service is great. You get a drink as soon as you arrive along with magazines. They are confident in their job. They actually care about you and your life. They are non-judgemental about who you are. You walk away with your head held high and it's a total experience. I give it five stars as it is the best hairdressing salon in Palmerston North!

I have been going to Spectra for about 5 years now and have always found it fabulous. Cody is both diplomatic and brave when we discuss whether what I want to do with my hair is going to suit my hair, my face and my colouring. While we don't always agree 100% I have grown to trust and respect her judgement - after all she does this everyday and has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Love that Spectra has given me the choice of full service or express yourself - I use both depending on what I want done, time available & budget.
