Kauri Montessori Preschool

Our 2 children go to Kauri Montessori and it really is a superb early childhood centre. I love the Montessori philosophy - it creates such a calm, safe environment for the children, where they really are respected.
The teachers are magnificent - and always so calm! But also really friendly, professional and incredibly caring for the tamariki.
The kids love running around in the outdoor area or playing in the massive sandpit, caring for the chicken or helping out in the vege garden or doing all the beautiful, extremely well thought out activities inside, which they get to know well and can repeat as often as they like while they're actually mastering essential skills needed for everyday life.
I love that literacy and numeracy are not just add ons at Monty, they are key parts of the program, but not pushed onto children who aren't interested.
I also love how well Monty fosters independence in the children - they really are encouraged to do things for themselves. Which helps the kids feel really empowered and in control of their own lives and is super helpful at home!
