Hells Gate Geothermal Park & Mud Spa

The mud spa was a neat experience although I really did not like the communal showers and changing room. Cafe had hardly any food left.

The guided walk they do is really worthwhile and I would definitely recommend it - I wouldn't have learned as much if I had chosen a self guide option. The mud bath and sulphur spa is really relaxing too

Rotorua is packed with geothermal parks and they are all quite flashy but this is a smaller operation tucked away out of town past the airport. you can wander around on your own which is good if you want to stay in places and do photos, or you can tag on to a guided tour and hear more about the area and its history. theres some interesting stories behind some of the names too. be sure to ask about the natural sunscreen stone. after that it was good to go soak in the outdoor pools for a bit and wrap it up with a soak in the mineral mud baths. best part of the stop, I reckon.

The mud bath was superb. the time provided just right to have the mud to work on the skin.Friendly staff with genuine warmth and smile. A must for every visit to Rotorua.

the mud pools were a really unique experience it wasn't cheap but definitely worth it staff were knowledgeable and very interesting, it was a public holiday and very busy - definitely a once in a lifetime experience
