Hells Gate Geothermal Park & Mud Spa

Really cool place to visit or take visitors. The pool facilities were nice and clean. Only downside is that is was a little pricey and the staff stood by the mud pools and timed how long you were in there. I didn't feel like I could relax as much knowing the staff were standing right behind us.

The best feeling ive had was this mud spas would go there all the time if i could an i lived there service is awesone to .

Popped in here while in the region pre-COVID. After visiting some of the bigger venues, I wanted to try one of the smaller, less big-budget ones to see a different point of view. This place sure fits the bill.

I ended up joining a guided tour, which was very low-key. There was plenty of walking around, seeing the different types of geothermal features - boiling water, mineral mud, even a really interesting hands-on about pre-colonial sunscreen. (You'll understand after you have been here yourself.)

There's no fancy shows of cultural dance, but there is a chance to do some basic woodcarving though not in the traditional style. There apparently is a geothermally-cooked meal on offer but I wasn't able to stay late enough to try it.

The highlight is definitely the pools - geothermally heated water as well as mineral mudbaths. Just, keep the mud out of your eyes. One joker on my tour didn't follow directions and ended up with acidic mud in his eyes and he was not a happy camper.

Not sure the ticket price is warranted for just the tour, but if you upgrade to the pools, you'll enjoy yourself.

Nice mud bath, really relaxing place, well set up. Spa was really good too. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only downside is when we went all the change rooms were locked for some reason and the other change rooms were not well set up, very open.
