Hobbiton Movie Set Tours

We visited Hobbiton in the school holidays with our three kids, age 7, 5 and 6 months. We drove ourselves (it's very easy to find as it's very well sign posted!) to Shire's Rest (where there are toilets, a cafe and a gift shop) and drove to the film set.

Everything was very well organised and the staff were helpful and friendly. Make sure you check in at least 15 minutes before your tour is due to start.
We took the 6 month old in the front pack - we had considered taking the stroller, but the paths at Hobbiton are not wide enough for even a narrow stroller, not to mention fitting the stroller on the bus.
Our tour guide and our bus driver were knowledgeable and friendly.
Hobbiton itself is absolutely stunning, the gardens were beautiful and well kept and there not a scrap of litter in site. My 5 and 7 year old have never seen the movies, but they were enthralled by the little doors and other details. The two hour tour flew by.
The tour was very good, my only complaint would be it felt a little rushed, but as there was another tour group right behind us and one in front, this is obviously just a really popular attraction and to make sure everyone gets to see everything, they need to keep things moving at a good sped.

But there is time to take photos, our tour guide took group pictures of everyone who wanted one inside the Hobbit hole (the ONE that you are allowed inside), so that was nice of her, and it did take a little while as our group was so big.
The tour ends with a free drink at the Green Dragon. Neither my husband or I drink alcohol but we enjoyed the ginger beer, as did my 5 and 7 year old.

I would highly recommend this experience to anyone, I would do it again I enjoyed it so much. I would love to come back and do the evening tour with the banquet, as I think there would be less people and you would probably feel a little less rushed.

Absolutely an awesome experience, whether you are a LOTR fan or not. Could be cheaper, of course, but nevertheless, an awesome place

A fantastic experience. From start to finish they make it an immersive experience. The guide we had was amazing. Had lots of interesting story's. At the end you get a free drink at the green dragon. All the staff we met were super friendly and there is plenty of parking. A bit expensive but definitely worth every penny.

A very good scenery, luckily we chose the right day to go, it was very sunny. Went to the restaurant and the food and drinks like extremely in the movie. A great experience!

We were in the area and decided to see what the hype was about. When we found out the cost to get in we decided to give it a miss. This is definitely aimed at the tourist and not locals.
