      The Outpost is a group accommodation lodge located in Mangarakau on the west coast of Golden Bay, only one hour from Takaka. Perfect for family reunions, birthday parties and special interest groups. Surrounded by Kahurangi National Park and opposite the Mangarakau Swamp reserve, The Outpost is a natural wonderland with adventure and beauty around every corner. One of the few places that can still handle large groups, bookings are essential.

      This place is cool. Remote. Basic but cool. There is a huge cave which is a bit of a trek up the mountain. Sleeps about 20 with a big communal kitchen and living area. We took a bunch of families and had a really nice time.

      Funky place. What you'd expect for golden Bay. Great if there's a large group to accommodate
