Got a car battery tested and I bought one also in 2017. There was an AA smart fuel discount and the staff was friendly and efficient.

Although slightly on the more expensive side, AA Auto Centre have very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and they're happy for you to drop in without an appointment. They usually have very reasonably-priced courtesy vehicles on hand so that you can drive in and drive out without a big disruption to your day. Highly recommended in terms of expertise and experience.
