Orana Wildlife Park

Such a great family attraction on the outskirts of Christchurch. Options to feed the animals are a great way to get up close and personal!

Great zoo like park for the family to visit. Very pram friendly which is great. Plenty of animals and their areas are large. Very cool getting to feed the giraffes!!

Not quite as good as Auckland Zoo, but by far best in south island. Great time, especially the extras you can buy on the side.

Took my boys here and we had an amazing time- the gorillas were awesome. Allow for 3-6 hours ! Only downside was how small the cafe was - but had a good range of food/ drinks so we were all happy ( even if a bit cramped for space at the table) . Make sure you do / see a few of the feedings esp the giraffes. If it's very busy you may have to wait for the shuttle that's goes around - but well worth the wait for the informative talk you get while travelling on it.

Fantastic place to go for a family day out. Great range of animals, and if you plan your day you can see them all getting feed at various times of the day. Nice walkways and paths conveniently linking the various parts of the park, alternatively you could take the free shuttle around the park. Great playground, my kids love the trampoline. The cafe is really nice, and even has prepacked "lunch box"type meals for the kids which always go down a treat.
