Satya South Indian Cafe

We tried Satya Chai Lounge for a late dinner drinks catch up and the eatery has amazing ambiance. The decor was like an intimate hidden hut with burlap sacks lining the walls and rows tables and benches.

We ordered the magic mushrooms, chicken 65, bang bang chicken and fried rice off the sharing menu. The bang bang chicken was the stand out dish, so tasty and spicy. For cocktail orders we tried the Rum Iced Chai and Spice G & T and these were beautiful beverages.

The overall dining experience was fabulous, the service needs improvement as there was much unnecessary waiting however the food came out readily. Highly recommended!

This is one of my favourite Indian restaurants for two reasons. Firstly the food is always delicious and full of flavour (although I do wish they did a standard plain naan bread). Secondly the owners are wonderful, friendly people who give back to their community. During the power outages in Auckland last year they opened their doors to locals who didn't have cooking facilities to come in and eat and they also open their door on Christmas to people who may be without families or short of cash. This is exactly the kind of people and business that I would like to support.

Everything here is delicious - especially the starters! Try the dahi puri, pani puri, masala dosa, samosa chat... Everything! It's BYO too.

Best Indian in central Auckland. By far.
