We realy enjoyed our evening here. It's obvious the owners want to serve good quality dishes. We recommend this place.

Best meal in NZ on the three occasions we have visited. Excellent food from a reassuringly short menu, perfect service and lovely staff.

I decided to try a French restaurant as I stumbled across it in the charming Parnell Village, Le Bistro des Gourmets, which was tucked away upstairs.

Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the highly pleasant maitre’d and sommelier. His service was amazing, friendly and not to mention highly attentive. The restaurant was charming and unassuming with distinct French flavour and the menu was exciting, beckoning me to order French wine from the regions and cuisine.

I ordered a glass of Domaine Ogier Cotes de Rhône which was exquisite to accompany my entree of Malibu Flambeed Prawns with Tropical Fruit Salsa. It was the most captivating experience to watch the sommelier flambé my entree before me as it added to French dining experience and the aroma was intoxicating. The dish was exceptional, so much depth of flavour with delicate textures of perfectly cooked white prawn flesh with buttery honey tones cut through with exotic pineapple and passionfruit accents of the salsa. What a truly heavenly experience for my palate!

Following on, I had a glass of Clos de Cazaux Gigondas to go with my main, of Roasted Roasted Chicken Breast with tarragon jus and seasonal vegetables. Once again, the wine was amazing served in a very bulbous wine glass, and this sang beautifully with my dish.

Finally to close, I was looking forward to enjoying some French cheese with another wine that caught my eye so I enjoyed a selection of 4 French cheeses with a glass of Domaine Gachot-Monot Bourgogne. It was the most pleasurable wine and cheese experience I’ve had to date!

My dining experience at Le Bistro des Gourmets was exceptional, for its fantastic French wine and gorgeous cuisine, not to forget the excellent attentive service. I highly recommend this restaurant for a promise of an elevated memorable French dining experience! No doubt, I will return!
