Kings Arms Tavern

Closest thing to time travel I have ever experienced. I ordered prime rib and asked for horse radish. They brought out some very rough (coarse) horse radish and I was amazed that this would have been true to the time period of the revolutionary times this tavern was modeled after. Very authentic! And very excellent food and Ale!

Ripping pub and live music venue

You will love the quaint, traditional tavern surroundings with very knowledgeable wait staff( especially George) who knew so much about the Colonial era and happily shared it. The food is delicious and served promptly and efficiently. It is a real treat to have lunch or dinner here especially for the Grand Illumination in December. Make reservations for that event months in advance because they fill up fast.

This is central Auckland's premier rock venue. I have been to dozens of gig's here and the place goes off. The best thing about the pub is you can go hard inside and then hang out with the band in the Garden bar after the gig. When this is a major touring band this can be quite a thrill. As an musician the team at the Kings Arms are very professional - their front of house sound team is very good.

Nice tavern with the kind of fare you'd expect. There is often live music on which makes it more worth a visit than other places offering similar food/drink. Although if you're just out for a drink and chat it can get a bit noisy! Overall recommended
