El Humero Colombian-style Barbecue Restaurant

One of our faves in NZ, we really love it here. The beef ribs, especially, are awesome (though you might want to skip a starter if you're having these). The smells and uniqueness of this restaurant are great and the staff are lovely too, all Spanish speakers but with good English for the natives. Only thing that could be improved is the ability to book a table on Friday and Saturday nights as you can have quite a wait otherwise.

Walked in off the street had been recommended by friends. Friendly greeting and had a table opposite the bar you can watch your food being cooked on the open grill bar b q . Small wine menue but enough and a nice selection of meats to be grilled, you then chose the accompanying dish and sauce

Highly recommended. The smell from their BBQ draws you in from miles away. They are nice, busy little place that provide high quality cuts of meat and take pride in their culture and food. Mains are large and well presented with a sauce, side and salad. The open BBQ gives you the full experience as you watch them cook your food....haven't seen so much meat before.

We couldn’t decide on where in Takapuna to have our little department lunch the other day until we stumbled on El Humero ... and I’m glad we did. A piece of cake to get to and a wonderful, cozy atmosphere makes this place a must. I had the T-Bone steak which was beautifully seasoned and succulent - really yummy. Their home-sauces are utterly excellent too, plus they have a nice selection of not so typical drinks to choose from. Good stuff
