Have seen police a few times (both as a traveler and picking up family) at Auckland Airport - always doing a good job. When traveling especially, seeing police around always makes me feel a little safer.

Our interactions with the police based at the airport have always been positive. Along with keeping everyone safe, they're also good at ensuring a calm and friendly atmosphere. In some countries the airport police can be intimidating, but not here - they get the balance of keeping things safe without seeming scary. Awesome work
