The Royal Wanganui Opera House (which has historical status, being built in 1900) seats 830. It is located in St Hill Street. The Opera House is available for stage presentations as well as conferences, weddings etc. The theatre can be booked through the booking office. User fees are charged for the venue. Ticketing is provided for many Whanganui venues, in partnership with Friends of the Royal Wanganui Opera House, from the Opera House booking office. Bookings can also be made online. Ticketing links are currently in place with ¿Arena Manawatu¿ and ¿The Regent on Broadway¿ in Palmerston North. The booking service at the Royal Wanganui Opera House is open 9.30am to 5.30pm weekdays and 10am to 12 noon on Saturdays.

Beautiful old building - took my granddaughter to a ballet recently and was impressed in the atmosphere

My granddaughters dance recital was held here the other night and it was done really well. The opera house was very night to sit in and made a great location for it.

They recently had a eagles tribute band here and it was amazing. The acoustics of the house were great and the view was excellent. Great cost and food options.

In the summer the building gets a bit hot, it's a beautiful old building and Ive seen a lot of recitals as well as shows over the last couple of years. Always well organised and the ushers are polite

7 Days is epic here every time they tour. Best night, the venue is pretty cool as well.
