Le Zhong Lin, of Newtown's Beijing Kitchen takes great pride in bringing northern Chinese-style spicier cooking to the capital! Whether you're after pork with Beijing sauce and wafer thin pancakes, a dish developed in north China about 1000 years ago, or fancy other traditional favourites including dumplings, peking duck pancakes, noodles and more - at The Beijing Restaurant we have something to suit even the most discerning palate. In the words of restaurant critic for The Dominion Post and Cuisine, David Burton: "Until Le Zhong and his wife, Liu Xin, set up The Beijing Kitchen, Chinese cooking had hit a trough in Wellington." We welcome you to treat your palate to an array of delicious traditional northern Chinese dishes, don't hesitate to call us or drop by today, you'll be glad that you did!

Hands down the best Chinese in Wellington! Seriously folks, we love this place. The Orange Beef is insane. Off the beaten track in Newtown, but worth it! Tons of variety too -with a selection of Cantonese, Sichuan and Beijing choices. Nice wine selection or BYO. Good service, prompt and friendly.

We had a thoroughly good meal at Beijing Restaurant. We were impressed with the number of asian people already seated, which is always a good indication.
We called in mid week without reservation. I doubt we'd have got in at the weekend, due to it's popularity.
The wait staff were helpful and efficient. The food was excellent
