Southern Cross Garden:Bar:Restaurant

FANTASTIC outdoor seating in the garden bar, one of my favourite places in Wellington to sit and have a drink on a sunny afternoon. Indoors is very cool too. The food is okay, but they have good live music sometimes, and they do awesome mulled cider and wine in the winter.

Southern Cross is remarkably versatile. The venue is cleverly divided into sections, with a choice of settings to enjoy your coffee, dinner or catch up over a drink. But nothing compares to their beautiful outdoor area on a warm summer night. The cross hosts live gigs, and other community events, like fundraisers and holiday programs. I've even seen a group of social knitters! The staff are friendly, I'm always greeted with a smile. The food is great, and there are plenty of vegetarian options.

We booked a late lunch here, initially the table they reserved for us but given it was a nice day they found us a table outside. We were a little early for the mains menu but after checking with the kitchen they allowed us order some starters from the mains menu and we really appreciated that. The food overall was good and so were the portion sizes. The staff there were were excellent and really enjoyable lunch

Top lunch on a beautiful day today. Enjoyed a great Chicken Burger with Fries and a DC (Diet Coke for the un-initiated). Nice friendly staff and timely service.

Popped in for a family dinner, 4 adults and two kids. Great relaxed atmosphere, plenty of seats, inside and out, heaters outside too and so welcoming for kids. Brilliant so far. Ordered eye fillet, two buddha bowls garlic breads, cheerios, stonegrill surf and turf, mini hotdogs, gluten free beers, nz whisky, lemoney lemonade and a couple of spiders.... phew! Cant fault the food, great checking with allergies and adapting if needed, eye fillet was perfect and the stone grill is a real novelty! Thoroughly enjoyed it, service was great too. Would revisit and reckon you should try it if you are looking for a family spot.
