Boat Cafe

A unique experience - morning tea on a refurbished boat anchored in the harbour! Cosy cafe that serves good coffee and the best date and orange scones that I have ever tasted. Always make a point of visiting when I'm in Wellington, particularly as it's away from the crowds in the city. Situated a short stroll from the city, it's a perfect place to visit on your return from Mount Victoria (steps leading up there are very close to the cafe). Not sure what it would be like being on the boat on a blustery day but today (Christmas Eve) it was warm and calm.

Love this place in summer. Having some fries and drink with friends is amazing.

Excellent service, always welcoming and warm. Highly recommend good plain food and friendly service at reasonable prices. Thanks for a pleasant experience on such a cold evening.

Excellent friendly service & delicious cabinet food!

The boat is welded (I think?) to the dock so it does not move in the way a boat that is simply anchored would - good for those who get seasick. I had a decent experience here - we were lucky in that we were seated in a part with a really nice view of the harbour and a nice spot in the sun. We also ordered from the Wellington On A Plate menu, which was pretty tasty. The service was very slow but they were reasonably busy. Would possibly visit again.
