Big Fig

The lamb shoulder and vegetable dishes they were serving that evening looked so delicious we stayed for dinner. We shared a large bowl between us. How romantic haha. Perfect evening! We ate lamb a few times on our stay at some great restaurants but the Big Fig lamb was the best.

Big Fig is what is says it it, slow cooked food, served fast. There is such a great range of food you can get, between hot cooked, and cold salads. Great place to go if you need something fast, yet healthy. I go there quite a bit. The flavour of the food is great!

Not been to Big Fig yet? - what are you waiting for? - this is a great wee place - lovely and warm inside - with seating inside and out - on one of Wanaka's main streets - we love Big Fig - great tasting food - friendly and welcoming staff - the idea is that there is something for anyone and everyone - they cater if you have a small appetite to a large on by selling food by plate size - fantastic - if one of your group is only wanting a small plate while others are more hungrier then they can have a large plate.... there is a vege only option or a meat and vege option - brilliant - lovely desserts - nice to see somewhere which has put a lot of thought and effort into making this a place where meat lovers and vegetarians can not dine together - nice drinks which are very natural or organic - great coffee here too - prices are great too - the food is already prepared and you just choose (not a self service) but nice portions and helpful knowledgeable staff to help you make your choice - would highly recommend Big Fig....... Visit the Big Fig when you are next in Wanaka

This was an excellent casual dining experience. You pay $13, $20, $26 for different sized plates and then select 4,5,7 portions from the selections in the cabinet. A huge variety to pick from. Licensed and Monday night is vegan night.

A super delicious 'slow-cooked' takeaway that felt homemade in style and was very healthy.
