The Station Cafe

Nice food, though a little on the spendy side.
Cool location, you can sit out on the platform as watch trains go by as it is located at a railway station.
A major downfall is that the staff smoker area is in this same area so if you're having your meal/afternoon tea etc at the wrong time you get the smell of cigarettes and stories about their weekend.

One star because the overall feel to this place is dirty! Really disappointed, food was okay but not great. Coffee was average. Good for the busloads of people that need to buy a fridge drink or use the toilet.

A very old fashioned and basic cafe based at the timaru train station. Doesn't have a good rep. Dusty and dirty feel to it.

Food was good but felt it could have been a little fresher, although we had arrived closer to the end of the day so perhaps it had been fresher earlier? Staff member who served us was polite and organised our order quickly. Would be nice to see some TLC put into the place to vamp it up...

food was very dried up in the cabinet. Signage - check your spelling !! Slow service. Checkout girl was pleasant but didn't offer all the options of 'juice' (we discovered some other options once we had ordered and sat down). She did smile quite a lot which helps. Chairs were dirty and the table was very wobbly - couldn't lean on it as it spilt the coffee. Coffee was not hot.

TOILETS ARE SHOCKING. Don't mind the old railway decor, but the toilets themselves need to be kept reasonable. Didn't want to touch anything - shudder.

Sorry to say, we will have to be in a big hurry or desperate, to come back to this cafe.
