The Bathhouse

Great location with a stunning priceless view. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The food however was not the best. The service was friendly, however my omelette was not well made at all. I could not finish it. Would be keen to give it another go because of the location however, maybe just for a coffee next time...

We came here with a bit of trepidation given the very mixed reviews. Overall it was better than expected!
The service was prompt, attentive and efficient, and the environment pleasant although more casual cafe than restaurant. Good coffee and scones

We were hoping to sit outside and enjoy a red wine b y the shoreline at the quaint little pavilion. Unfortunately it was too cold and windy so we moved inside. The staff were welcoming on entry, but not o much when they knew we were not dining. This was not the issue though, it was the extreme noise coming from the kitchen that made us so uncomfortable that we quickly finished our drinks and left. The kitchen is part of the main dining area and it was just too much.

What a wonderful place for breakfast! Good food offerings with great coffee, and a very nice selection of pastries to choose from (the banana bread was fantastic). We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t crowded at all; got a nice table on the beach outside!

Excellent find away from the the very busy centre, with perhaps the towns best views over the adjacent lake. Charming atmosphere with a snug and cosy welcoming feel. Had a great chowder for lunch so returned in the evening for an excellent dinner. My wife commented "best meal I have had in NZ, this place deserves to be busier". The fish and duck terrine can be recommended.
