Food is exquisite. Lovely atmosphere and knowledgable staff.

The restaurant was spectacular! The pork belly was very tender, and the crackling was crackly. The vegetables and potato was awesome too. Chicken breast with mushroom was an umami bomb. We have eaten Josh’s food in LA and melbourne under the umbrella of Gordon Ramsay’s influence and on each occasion, the food has been amazing. Definitely coming back next time we are in Queenstown!

We had a nice lunch there. Starter main and dessert. Pretty good baby I given it's a Josh Emmett restaurant. The cheese roll is very interesting and it's a house speciality. Booking essential.

This restaurant is one of my favorites. The people at the reception are nice, They do whatever they can to help us to find a table. The menu is perfect. All my dishes were delicious. We went there twice in our 4 nights. The people working there we fantastic. The wine list is great and the prices are fair. The restaurant is the best. I have been there in 2017 and I went back to find out that it still provides the same nice sensation. I highly recommend this place.

Simply superb. The service was attentive without being the restaurant equivalent of helicopter parenting, the ambience was exactly what you would expect of a high-end eatery and the food was exquisite. The Cloudy Bay Storm clams with garlic and parsley butter was a highlight - perfectly paired with sourdough - and the potato bread with chive creme fraiche was soft and beautifully doughy. The lamb main course was the best thing I had eaten in New Zealand. I would have liked a stronger crayfish punch in the ravioli, but now I'm just nitpicking. Then there were the desserts - a beautiful meringue with local stone fruits and a rich cherries-and-chocolate-cake dish (in essence, a deconstructed black forest cake). If you are heading to Queenstown, make sure you book a table at Rata. We booked two days out (online) and still could only get an early booking for 6pm. But it was well worth the decision to break with our routine and eat a little earlier.
