The Thirsty Weta

Really nice place to grab a drink and watch some sport. The staff here are so lovely and create a fun atmosphere.

The term "character" applies equally to the staff, the venue, the patrons and the menu. An eclectic mix of cafe food, restaurant meals and takeaways thrown in with a bar and 'local haunt' make this a very interesting place to dine if you are passing through town. The signature dish - Chicken Weta - is quite tasty and affordable, but you can also get rustic pizzas to go if you want something to give the kids to snack on in the back of the car.

It's also very handy to the Otorohanga Kiwi House, so brilliant place to grab a feed at before you head out into the bush on a night safari to spot Kiwi foraging in the wild.

Staff were really rude that i didn't have ID even though I was not drinking and we were made to sit outside in mid winter, 6 months pregnant. Would not return. The food was nice when we finally got it though.

We had a great time made sure we had all I'd on us so no questions asked food was delicious thank you
