Mangaiti Farm Canine Boarding Kennels & Cattery

Very happy with the service we received with our five family dogs that stayed over the New Year break, the hosts were honest and accommodating, dogs were very happy! Best deal out.

BEWARE!! This is not a suitable place for placing your pets while you are away. I believe the owner ot their friends has placed the 2 five star ratings above and this makes it very misleading.
Took our 2 cats and dog to this place, I should have driven straight back out, but I didn’t as I was catching a flight overseas and didn’t know what I would do with all my pets. Went home and was awake ALL night stressing about what kind of place my pets for 10 days while I was away. Got up 1st thing in the morning, drove back the 1hour drive and got them all. Booked them into Waitakaruru Kennels for piece of mind. A very stressful way to start a holiday!
Dried up Cat poo all over the floor in the outside area. Can poo on one of the tables in the inside part, which the lady quietly covered with a cloth when we walked in, but we saw her do that. 1 litter tray – it was overflowing with cat poo - shared by about 10 cats. NO FRESH WATER. NO SEPERATION. The lady said after I left she was just about to do the litter tray. When I went back ion the morning it hadn’t been done. Looks like the cattery has not been cleaned in years, very dirty.
DOGS- in open cages with only a roof, no walls, Open to all the elements, if there is a down pour of rain, id be absolutely sure they would get wet and cold. The lady said one of the dogs was sick-but was still with all the other dogs, no isolation. Our dog got Diarrhia for 4 days after being there.

When we arrived at the cattery we considered just driving straight back out but as we were flying overseas the next day we didn't feel we had much choice, the cat needed to be looked after for 9 days and there were 2 x 5 star reviews on the website.

I was shocked at the state of the cattery, it was dirty, the litter box needed changing and I could only see 1 plate of food & 1 water bowl. I let my cat out of her cage she had a look around and went under a small table in one corner. I said that she does not like other cats and could she have her own cage at night. The owner said she would check her and put her in a cage if necessary. I could only see 4 cages and there were more than 4 cats there. After a sleepless night we rang and found another place for her to stay and went to pick her up she was still under the table where I left her, I noticed that the litter box had not been changed.

I will not use this cattery again.

Lovely people who are very knowledgeable with animals big and small, perfect environment for pets. We felt very happy leaving our animals here.

The owners are lovely people but the dogs are kept in a small, quite dirty enclosure. I was quite surprised to see this since it's called a "farm stay" and assumed the dogs are free to run around a large grassy area and monitored often but it's the total opposite. Very disappointing.
