Riverstone Kitchen

Worth the trip out of town, or a spot to drop into on your way to Oamaru from Christchurch. We go there once or twice a year for not only the restaurant which has an amazing array of foods on offer with most sourced locally from their own kitchen garden which you can walk around but also the great trinket gift shops and farm atmosphere, add Dot's Castle to the backdrop and it is a fun filled day for all. Have to admit to spending a little too much money when there but all pieces brought have been worth it.

Such a popular place - it's been reviewed in magazines all over NZ so of course we had to visit as we were in town. Lovely giftshops by the kitchen to browse through and the owner herself can be seen in the garden, a lovely spot.

Unfortunately the children's menu doesn't really exist nor match the amazing playground they have its very elaborate and children can spend hours on it. Everytime I've been there the only option for a Gluten Free sweet is Orange cake..watery and bland. Coffee good. be prepared for the cold where a jacket

Cheese soufflé is amazing. The shops and gardens are fabulous. We had a round of ice creams and to be honest the flavours apart from the hazelnut one were all too strong, but still five stars as meals, surroundings and service were awesome.

They always have a number of gluten free options, in both meals and desserts, and the food is always exquisite. There can sometimes be a wait, especially when fully booked, but that is to be expected at a place of such quality
