Whitebait Inn Mokau

We have a family holiday Bach in Mokau so tend to come here often as it's the only thing close to a general store in the area. We love the fish and chips, (the fish burger is THE best) the kids love getting the hand scooped ice creams and the cafe area is brilliant for a sit down meal. The cabinet food is great too with sandwiches and savouries etc. As it's on the main road and pretty much a one horse tourist town in the middle of nowhere you often end up crossing paths with bus loads of tourists. It is very hit and miss so you just have to be patient and wait if there is a long queue, especially in summer when everyone wants an ice cream! Nice staff.

Stopped for a whitebait sandwich and a cup of tea: both were spot on, the sandwich with the traditional white bread and a large juicy fritter with lemon on the side, the tea hot and well flavoured. A great lunch.

Great whitebait sandwiches, and reasonable coffee - well worth a stop!

Great stop point for any person passing through mokau the food is good service is awesome and they also stock a lot of fishing gear highly recommended

Nice range of whitebait products. Great place to stop while on the way to Taranaki. Staff are friendly, did well on a busy Sunday to keep up with orders, but still had quite a long wait.
