One stop shop for textiles and arts and craft supplies. Also great selection of curtains too..very elegant designs and they often gave great deals. Very cheap sewing machines and materials are very cheap per meter.

I love the Hastings store. It’s huge and filled with so many bargains. Got a duvet cover for $40 that used to be $200! Sometimes it’s hard to find what you’re looking for because it’s so packed with amazing goodies, but staff are helpful.

Spotlight sells a lot. Fabric, party items, birthday gifts and much more. We find the sales items to be handy around xmas for our party prizes.

Awesome range of products, some staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, others are not. They have great specials.

BE AWARE when ordering online, EVEN AFTER YOU HAVE PAID, THEY STILL BLOCK ADDITIONAL MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT!
When online ordering at spotlight.co.nz; they put an authorisation for the purchase amount on your bank account (means the money is on hold - you can’t use it, just they can take or release it). This is normal praxis in various businesses, to secure you have the money in your account till the full payment is taken, afterwards the authorisation will be taken off again – generally.
Not so with Spotlight. They put four authorisations on my account the sum of them even higher as my purchase. The full payment was taken two days later. The authorisations stayed, so I rung the service number, as the bank can’t take an authorisation off just the company who placed it. They explained this is normal praxis and only 7-10 days after I have received the order, the hold on the money will be released. A second person at a later call explained, even if they wanted they aren’t able to take the authorisation off, so it will just expire after a max. of 12days.
It seems ridiculous such a big company not having a procedure for something much smaller businesses deal with on a daily base.
So I paid them in full, but they are still holding an even higher amount on my bank account for another 7-12 days, during which period I can’t access this money even though it is on my account.
It doesn’t seem right that they are able to just do that!
