General Info

Smith Contracting Limited is a local owner-operated business based in Upper Hutt covering the greater Wellington region and south Wairarapa. Operated by Cam and Crystal Smith the company was established in 2015 when the couple embarked on an adventure to broaden their horizons. Growing up in Wanganui and spending a lot of time on his grandparent¿s farm, especially during hay season, Cam knew he wanted to go into farming/agriculture work and when the opportunity arose he jumped at it. Smith Contracting was previously J R & N Berkett, owned and operated by Jeff and Noeline Berkett. They had been in the contracting game for about 55 years when they decided it was time to sell the business. Cam and Crystal purchased the business and renamed it Smith Contracting, but essentially not a lot else has changed. Glen, who was employed with Jeff and Noeline for over six years, has stayed on and continues to work for Cam and Crystal. Jeff also works with Cam when needed particularly during the summer months passing on his years of knowledge and experience. The business provides a full range of services suitable to farmers, lifestylers and commercial needs including Hay, Baleage, spreading, carting, undersowing and hydromowing of which they have three different sized hydromowers. Cam's focus has always been on providing the best quality service and machinery and always strives to be a step ahead with new services and products all the while taking pride in the end outcome of top quality hay and baleage, and other agricultural services. Our aim has never been to provide the cheapest service believing that it becomes a false economy all too frequently with a cheap job producing waste and poor quality. All our workmanship is guaranteed and our machinery well maintained and modern with skilled operators. Call now for more information.
