Kilim Turkish Cafe - Petone

This is my favourite Turkish restaurant. Delicious flavours. Had the mixed grill last time and I particularly like the skewered lamb on top. Ultra tender. Great atmosphere. Cozy. Friendly waiting staff. A great experience.

I heard so many fantastic things about this place (and in fact, I previously frequented their restaurant on Willis Street in Wellington City), but I was really, really disappointed by my meal. This was the only meal I ever went so far as to request my money back for. It may be that I chose a poor day/time to go, or that I made a poor selection. I went during the lunch period on a Saturday, and ordered the Zucchini and Carrot fritters Iskender. Looking to try something different, i was quite excited to try the food. I wasn't expecting such a loose interpretation of the word 'fritter'. It was slices of carrot and zucchini, individually battered and deep fried in a greasy thick fish-and-chip-shop batter. I would guess it was a less popular menu item, as it appeared clearly frozen and reheated. I wasn't able to eat more than a few bites. I sincerely believe that others have had great experiences here, but mine and my partner's meals were not great, and we left hungry and disappointed. I didn't think as far ahead to take photographs, unfortunately.

Great place to go for lunch or dinner, the kebabs are amazing and the mixed grill meal is also really good and the prices are very reasonable.

My favourite Turkish restaurant in Wellington! Delicious food, reasonable prices and huge portions! Love that it is BYO too. It's a lovely atmosphere inside but a shame that they don't have more tables as they book up fast!

went here for dinner on friday, even though it was busy we didnt have to wait long to be seated. the food here is sooo good and healthy. I had the spinakopita. Nice atmosphere. Highly recommended
