Terroir Restaurant at Craggy Range

Really enjoyed the tasting concept and success , but felt the platters were over priced. Don't mind paying the higher end, but expect a decent platter

Our first 5 star experience in Hawkes Bay.

We drove past Craggy Range on a wet Saturday afternoon and decided to pop in to have a look as we last saw it when it opened in 2003.

They managed to fit the four of us in even though we didn’t have a booking and they were fully booked - they put us in the bar area.

The complimentary bread and butter (butter mixed with Brie and honey) was divine as were the pickled vegetables.

Our daughters had the pork meatballs and pappardelle pasta and declared it very good (they should know as they have spent a lot of time in Italy).

My wife and I had the Patanga Lamb shoulder and garlic and rosemary roast potatoes. Probably the best lamb we have had - it just fell off the bone.

We had a glass of the Craggy Range Sophia and a glass of the Le Sol but we also got to try the Pinot noir with the lamb and that would be our pick for that dish.

The service was friendly and efficient.

We will be back for both the food and the wine.

Highly recommend this place for dinner. Amazing cuisine and wine. Beautiful ambience and surrounding grounds and view. Lovely fire spit roasting meat as we dine, with mood music, and lighting. Really a once in a lifetime experience.

The food was awesome, such great favours. The pan fired fish yum, the dishes that had the roasted octopus were epic, chicken beautifully cooked, would go again and thank you to the Chef
