Hamilton Zoo

Was surprised at how nice this zoo was as you don't hear about it much. I did the Lemur encounter with my partner which was awesome! Got heaps of great photos. THe only downside was there seemed to be too many lions in the space they had for the enclosure. Will be back again.

Zoo is small when compared to other city zoos /parks around the world. At first the size of enclosures was a bit of a shock. But as a plus you can walk it easily with small children in 2 1/2 hours and actually see most animals. Lots of changing scenery and shade for hot weather and plenty of trees and huts for rainy days. For Hamilton it is a great asset and the improvements are continuing. All the staff are fabulously friendly.

We enjoy visit after visit to this small but well though out and maintained zoo. We have never had any issues parking or finding space at the well priced cafe. There is a great playground as soon as you enter where you can have a picnic or plenty of places around the zoo to stop. The flow of the zoo is good so that you aren't doubling back too much to see anything. L most importantly the animals look well cared for, enclosures look well maintained and often being upgraded. This really is one of Hamilton's little gems.

An amazing zoo! I love the rhino and chimp enclosures! Amazing place to take the kids for a birthday and the feeding enclosures are excellent additions!

A great little zoo. Spent several hours there. Loved the zookeeper talks every half an hour or so to introduce the animals. Reasonable price. They also have animal encounters which are much cheaper than other zoos around. This is the second time I've been and would go back again.
