Great warm environment, the food is good -really generous portions. They take really large bookings which is a bonus. Great drinks and good selection as well.

We (Me, wife and 14 yr old son) had spent the morning riding E-Bikes around the Napier foreshore and had seen the Speight Ale House while riding, so after we had finished we decided to go back for a late lunch. By the time we arrived it was about 2.30pm, and we were the only customers present.

We arrived and were greeted and asked where we wanted to sit. We chose to sit upstairs so we had a view across the Marina, which was great as it was in the shade and had a nice breeze blowing through.

Menu's were supplied quickly and drink orders taken. With the place being empty these seemed to take a while to be delivered, although they were using the bar downstairs, so this could have been the reason. Meals were ordered for the three of us when the drinks were delivered.

Originally we went to the ale house for a dinner gathering but as we were early a group of us took the tour and was very happy with it. The building is amazing in itself but all the history of the brew was interesting to learn. Made for exciting conversation over dinner and a little more appreciation for the beer we consumed whilst we ate. Didn't take up too much time, and the tasting at the end was perfect in choosing what we were going to enjoy later on.
