I had heard the name Raspberry Cafe a few times amongst friends, and my partner was very excited to take me here. The seating in the garden area is pleasant and I can imagine during the summer months it would be great place to sit out and enjoy drinks amongst friends under the many canopies. When we landed it was very busy as was to be expected. Unfortunately this appears to be having a direct impact on the service received. In my opinion the service on the day was some of the worst I have received in New Zealand. When asking about seating most of the tables were reserved. However one reserved table stated a lapsed time of some 30+ minutes and was free. When asking if we could be seated there I was spoken to in a very condescending manner. The same lady was abrupt and rude when taking my order, walking off part way through ordering to address something else. Later I went to add additional items to the order and had to repeat myself 3 times as the member of staff concerned was unable to focus on the task at hand. I believe most of this came down to not been set up for the volume of customers, resulting in staff not effectively communicating with customers. This left a bitter taste, which was a shame as the food was of good quality and well presented. I hope to have a better experience should we decide to return.
