West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre

Came here with my young daughter yesterday following the recommendation of a friend. Wow. When we entered, the reception had a sign apologising for the lower water temperature, considering we came on a particularly cold Auckland day, this was most unfortunate as it ruined our trip.

We pretty much gave up after 20 minutes. The only place you could feasibly enjoy was the spa, the kids pool and the environment in general was just FREEZING.

Facilities feel a bit old and run-down now, maybe we are spoilt by the Tepid baths who knows. Unfortunate we came on such a cold day but still, come on folks.

I have been here a few times and needs a bit of a improvement and hope that the temperature gets warmer as depending on which pool you enter, it can be warm or cold and a good place and pricing can be cheaper if you buy a deal one.

Great free place to take kids, indoors so you can be there winter and summer.

I have only been once and it was an average experience. We also had trouble just swimming around as the wave pool is actually not that large for the amount of people there as it is split into sections. The 'shallow end' where we were with the kids was pretty crowded. Appears to look dated and tired but I think they have had renovations in recent years so perhaps that is not the case - just a feeling I got. The changing facilities are spacious and weren't too crowded which was good. We didn't go on the slides but those who were looked like they had fun.

With Westwave built near Unitec's Waitakere campus, the shopping mall and some homes within the Henderson area, this place is handy for those wanting to beat the summer heat. Prices are okay for families and students
