VTNZ (Vehicle Testing New Zealand)

This is a really busy location and so I would recommend you do not go during lunch hour. Otherwise really efficient and friendly staff.

Just got my licence renewed at VTNZ and they were very helpful and offered prompt service.

Got here before 8am opening time, second in the queue for the middle lane. Waiting in the customer area after paying watching as they drove my car in, ready for inspection..... 5 mins later the inspector has started checking the Budget rental van waiting in line behind me outside the marked off area. Not happy at all about this.

Went in to VTNZ Sylvia Park for WOF (not my usual VTNZ Branch). The inspector, and I use this term loosely, attempted to fail my vehicle for not having catalytic converters and loose suspension coils in the rear. My car has had no cats and the same springs for over 2 years, been through 2-3 previous inspections at my usual branch Highbrook with no issues whatsoever. His attitude was to “take it to them to pass it then, because I’m failing you”. Wasn’t until I demanded to speak to the manager that the catalytic converter issue was fine but they still wouldn’t pass the springs. My mechanic (who personally installed the springs) looked them over yesterday and was dumbfounded as they are in the exact condition as the day they were fitted. Went back to my usual branch for retest and surprise surprise no issues. I wish I could remember this idiot’s name at Sylvia Park, as I’m now $75.00 + gst out of pocket, due to my mechanic looking them over. Can I send him the bill for that AND my wasted time? Never going to this joint EVER again.
