The Shortland Street Cafe

Love this little cafe - they always have great coffee and cabinet food.

I’ve been here many a time and usually get something nice from the cabinet to take away. Today I took the falafel wrap away for my lunch and, while I had lovely friendly service, the falafel was very unusual. It looked and tasted like fried breadcrumbs and had little resemblance to a chickpea (or other) falafel. It was very crumbly and without substance so though I like and support the cafe, this needs looking at because I wouldn’t choose it again.

Very friendly service and great coffee. I had the feta and avocado smash on toast. It was really tasty and well seasoned. It was served with some warm tomatoes that had been cooked with care; the beautiful tart-sweet flavour shone through. Would have loved a little bit more of the reduction that was served with it as after a while the feta became a bit overwhelming. Coffee very good.

This cafe became my favourite cafe. All staffs are so friendly and have a high expectation to serve the customer. The coffee is good and also the cabinet foods and bakery pastries are so fresh and nice too. Good to visit in the morning!
