The Occidental Belgian Beer Huis is located on Auckland’s historic Vulcan Lane and is one of Auckland’s oldest buildings.Today, we serve up a mouth-watering menu of mussel pots, seafood platters and European fare. Our beer taps are ever-changing with an array of Belgian and craft specialties. For something different, try our extensive collection of bottled Belgian beer. Our staff will be happy to recommend a great match for your meal.And while you’ll come for the food and beer, you’ll stay for the atmosphere. Our cosy pub was built in 1870 as a high-end hotel and restaurant complete with billiard room and reading room.For 130 years it has welcomed people from all walks of life, served up hundreds of thousands of meals and poured millions of pints. The design and décor all reflect its fascinating past. Even the ghost that is rumoured to emerge from the basement on occasion doesn’t want to leave!

The food is good and a nice atmosphere. Great place to come for drinks and the most of the food is delicious. I didn’t like that even though I was inside I could smell heavy smoke coming in.

Great place to hang out with group of friends.Relaxing atmosphere. lovely staff and service.They have got best tap beers.

Great beers, a fantastic menu, and an excellent location, right in the middle of Auckland's bustling CBD.

Was there on a Friday, very mixed crowd kept entertained by the live music. Only point was might be a bit on the pricey side, but great location!

To sum it up in three words: Monday mussel mania. Always busy, great food and drinks but not very cheap for a meal out - unless you go to one of the specials nights, like Monday's half price mussels. The mussel options alone are quite a few to pick from so if you're stuck I recommend that the mussel mixed platter. Its just great
